CLI-MIC KEY MILESTONES
—> Launch of the Pedagogical Plan & Teacher Training
CLI-MIC kicked off its training programme with an international teacher mobility hosted by University of Valencia, in Valencia, in November 2023. Teachers from Finland, Spain, Malta and Cyprus explored how to integrate comics into climate change education. This milestone marked the operational start of CLI-MIC’s Pedagogical Plan and the formation of a transnational network of educators committed to creative STEAM-based learning.
—> Implementation in Schools & Comic Creation
In early 2024, 3 partner schools - Gaudia, IES Jaume I and PGMS - ran local workshops series where students transformed climate knowledge into powerful comic narratives. These visual stories combined scientific understanding with creativity, supporting critical thinking, emotional engagement and anction-oriented environmental awareness.
—> Student Mobility in Malta
During spring 2024, selected students from the three schools gathered in Malta for a week of intercultural exchange hosted by Atlas Language School. Through collaborative workshops, field trips and public presentations, students strengthened their climate literacy and communication skills, experiencing firsthand the European dimension of climate action through art.
—> Pilot Replication in Austria and Greece
A Replicability Guide was developed during autumn 24 to scale the model further and let EU educators be inspired by tools developed during the project. To test CLI-MIC’s transferability, during 2025 spring, new schools in Austria and Greece piloted the methodology with support from technical and school partners’ teachers in loco. These actions demonstrated how comics-based climate education can be adapted to different national contexts while fostering student agency and creativity.
—> A Growing Network for Climate Education
Beyond project results, CLI-MIC has seeded one of its most relevant outcomes for the sustainability of the project after its completion: a vibrant and generative community of educators, artists and facilitators - the CLI-MIC Network - committed to innovating climate education through creativity, storytelling and action-oriented approach. The project lays the foundation for lasting impact and continued innovation in environmental and climate education across Europe. In fact, thanks to our Network, a generative community of dozens of professionals - educators, artists, facilitators, designers and activists - has formed, ready to contribute to our mission.
